Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Marler returns to the city following five years as athletic coordinator for Smyrna. He spent five years in the same position for La Vergne.

Marler is a Certified Youth Sports Administrator through the National Alliance for Youth Sports, and a Certified Playground Safety Inspector through the National Recreation and Parks Association. Additionally, he holds a B.S. in aviation from Western Michigan University.

Prior to his work in the parks and recreation field, Marler was Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the US Army where he flew AH-1 Cobra, and AH-64 Apache helicopters in Desert Storm and in Bosnia-Herzogovenia while serving as the Squadron Safety Officer.
