This year's theme is: TBA

Old Timers’ Day 2010 is gearing up to be the biggest and best festival ever. From the La Vergne Rescue Squad’s Country Ham breakfast to the Parade and from the music to the closing fireworks, the day will be filled with activities for the entire family.

In addition, the Children's and Seniors Zones will be full of special surprises and the senior citizens will offer traditional favorites in their tent. Plan now to celebrate the city and its citizens during Old Timers’ Day 2010, Sept. 18, at La Vergne’s Veterans Memorial Park.

This is, obviously, an outdoor event. It will take place rain or shine. Refunds are not given for Acts of God.

GENERATOR INFORMATION:
Generators are available for the food and sales vendors for $35 per outlet. Please note that using strip cords to connect all of your equipment may cause the circuit breaker to trip. If you have many items to connect to a strip, you will probably need more than one outlet.

If you need a 220 50amp outlet you must reserve the outlet in advance. The cost for 220 hookups is $100.

You must bring at least 100 feet of heavy extension cords for this event. The main generator is a shared 56 KW generator with a limitation of 110 volt, 20 amp plug per hookup. Many people hook onto this generator for their various needs. Plug-ins for smaller, four person generators can be purchased. They also carry a maximum of 110 volt, 20 amp plugs. If this will not work for you -- or if you require more amperage -- you will need to bring your own generator.

If this will not work for you or if you require more amperage, you will need to your own generator. If you have had problems with this in the past, you must bring your own generator.

Please be mindful of those around you when bringing your own generator. Some generators emit fumes and are loud; causing other to not have the ideal day they have planned.

Also, if you plan on staying until the fireworks (generally past 5:00pm), you will need to supply your own power source.

Parade Committee
The City of La Vergne is looking for four or five people who would be willing to serve on an Old Timers' Day parade committee. The committee would be responsible for making parade plans. They would also try to solicit more people to enter floats in the parade, which begins at 10:30am at City Hall on Sept. 18, 2010.

"There's been some concern in the city that the parade isn't like it used to be," said OTD Coordinator Angie Mayes. "The people commenting that there aren't enough floats in the parade. Also, there have been comments that not enough young people, school groups or civic organizations take part in the parade." Mayes said she urges all school clubs -- from primary to high school -- to build a float for the 2010 parade.

Anyone wishing to be a part of the parade committee or with ideas for the parade should e-mail OTD@lavergne.org. "It can be as simple as a car hauler with hay on it or it can be as elaborate as the club or group wants," she said. Committee meetings would take place in the evenings so members of the public could attend.

The parade is judged by members of the parade committee. Anyone wanting to join this committee should e-mail Angie Mayes at OTD@lavergne.org or amayes@lavergne.org.
