La Vergne has a wide variety of recreational programs and activities for residents of all ages.

Parks
The La Vergne Parks and Recreation Department currently has five parks in its system. The parks are located throughout La Vergne.

Veteran’s Memorial Park
The main park in the city is Veterans Memorial Park, located at 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive. Consisting of eight baseball fields, a football/soccer field, basketball court, tennis court, in-line hockey rink, skate park and two pavilions, plus an exercise area, walking trails and playground, the park sits on 55 acres in the center of town.

Mankin Park
Neighborhood parks also exist within the city. There’s Mankin Park, located on 124A Mankin Street off Jefferson Pike, which has one pavilion and a playground area, plus walking trail.

Heritage Valley Park
Heritage Valley Park, located at 171 Fergus Road in La Vergne, consists of nine acres of green space used for soccer and flag football, two programs in which the Department coordinates with the North Rutherford YMCA.

Bicentennial Park
Bicentennial Park, located next to City Hall at 5091 Murfreesboro Road has one acre of green space, one baseball and one softball field and a pavilion.

Lake Forest Park
Lake Forest Park is the newest park in the system. Located at 401 Holland Ridge Drive in the Lake Forest subdivision, the park consists of five acres. With a police substation located outside the park, the area includes two pavilions at this point. Future plans include a walking trail and playground.

Brookside Park
Also in future plans are Brookside Park, located near the Brookside subdivision on the South side of Waldron Road.

Facility Rentals
The Parks and Recreation Department also schedules rental times for both the Multi-Purpose Building (behind La Vergne City Hall and the Library) and the Civic Auditorium (located at 283 Old Nashville Highway).

A refundable deposit and $25 per hour is charged to rent these facilities. Schedule early, these are both popular facilities among La Vergne residents.

Multi-Purpose Building
The Multi-Purpose Building is located behind La Vergne City Hall at 5093 Murfreesboro Road, by the ball fields. It is a brick building with a refrigerator, microwave and commercial sink, in the kitchenette. Free Wireless Internet Access is available to those that rent the facility as well.

The floors are carpeted. The walls are block which is painted. The restrooms are handicapped accessible. There are 20 tables and approximately 200 chairs. The usable space in the building is 70 x 40 feet which equals to 2,800 square feet. Capacity is 200 people, as noted by the City's Fire Marshal. For a map click here.

Civic Auditorium
The Civic Auditorium is located at 283 Old Nashville Highway and has a full kitchen with refrigerator, sink, stove and microwave. Free Wired and Wireless Internet Access is available to those that rent the facility as well.

The floors are hardwood. The walls are made with drywall. There are handicapped accessible restrooms in this facility. There are 12 tables and 100 chairs in this facility. The usable space is 33 x 43 feet, which equals to 1,400 square feet. Capacity is 125 people, as noted by the City's Fire Marshal. For a map click here.

Programs
Softballs Image The Parks and Recreation Department offers programs throughout the year for citizens of all ages. In addition to activities sponsored by the Department, La Vergne’s recreation programs also include pee wee and little league baseball, youth football and in-line hockey. Those leagues are self-contained but work with the Department in a variety of ways.

Activities for all ages
Clogging class is offered at the Civic Auditorium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm. The class is open to all ages. Sharon Whitley is the instructor for this class.

Jazzercise is offered on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm; Wednesday from 5:45-6:45pm; and Saturday mornings 9:00-10:00am at the Multi-Purpose Building. This class is open to those 18 years and older. Jackie Dixon is the instructor and you can get more information by visiting the website http://www.jazzercise.com/.

KickBoxing class is offered on Monday evening from 7:00-8:00pm and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30am at the La Vergne Civic Center. Tania Fletcher is the instructor. For more information Click here.

Baton Twirling class will be conducted by Tennessee Twirlers Inc.(TTI) at the Multi-Purpose Building on Tuesday evenings. This program is for ages 5 and up. The beginner class starts at 6:30pm. This is a 12 week class. For more information Niki Davis at 406-1617.

Events
The Parks and Recreation Department offers events throughout the year for citizens of all ages. We have the Easter Egg Hunt in the spring, Adventure Quest Camp for school-aged children in the summer, the Howl at the Moon 5K Run and Trail of Treats in the fall.
