What is National Night Out?...It's America's Night Out Against Crime!

The National Night Out(NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). We cordially invite you and your community to be a part of our NIGHT OUT 2009 team. The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participate in National Night Out annually.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
    LPD-NNO image
  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods 'celebrate' NNO with a variety of events and activities such as:

  • block parties,
  • cookouts,
  • visits from local police and sheriff departments,
  • parades, exhibits,
  • flashlight walks,
  • contests, and
  • youth programs.
NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation. Plus, the benefits a community will derive from NNO will most certainly extend well beyond the one night.

Sponsors, Sponsorships, and Vendors

The City of La Vergne is looking for sponsors for the 2010 event to help relieve the cost of National Night Out.

Sponsorship costs run $100 and up. Mentions in all press releases will be a perk of being a sponsor for the night. Sponsors will also have the opportunity to have an informational table at the event. Sales are not allowed during the free night of fun.

The City is also looking for vendors for the night — alarm companies, locksmiths, and other safety-related companies are needed for the event.

Anyone who wants to sponsor or participate as a vendor in the event is asked to call Tammy Sullivan at 287-8610, email tsullivan@lavergne.org.

2009 sponsors included Regions Bank, Ingram Content Group, Ultimate Martial Arts, La Vergne Rotary Club, Slush Puppy, Tom Clark Jr., State Farm Agent, Chick Fil A, Mitch Billias (DJ), Tony Atwell (Jump Jump Bounce), Target, Charles Grider/TPA Security, Flower Bakery, and the Father's House Church.
