Dear La Vergne Resident:
According to the 2006 La Vergne Special Census, the City of La Vergne had a population of 25,278 residents.
However, because of the number of housing permits and utility
hookups added since the then, we believe that number to
be much higher. That’s why we need your help.
In order to ensure that we have a correct count of La Vergne residents (which
will mean more revenue from the state in the form of state-shared tax revenues),
we are asking that you fill out the enclosed self-mailer and return it to our
office. It’s short, simple and very important.
The additional revenues we will receive from the state helps us maintain the
lowest property tax rate in Rutherford County and to provide much needed
services such as police protection. These revenues are based upon the certified
population. It is estimated with an accurate and thorough census, the City will receive an
additional $400,000 per year, in state funds. Each state tax dollar returned to the
City of La Vergne reduces the tax burden that our local residents must bear.
Representatives of the City will be required to personally visit the residents
who do not complete a census form. Therefore, completing your census form
eliminates the need for you to have future contact with a census taker.
Please take a moment to complete the following at the bottom of this page:
1. List your La Vergne Street address (even if you receive your mail at a post
office box),
2. List the first and last names of all the persons living at this address (be
sure to include students who may be away at college), and
3. Click Submit.
If you have any questions or if you wish to provide us your information over the
phone, please call 287-8690.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out this Special
Census form.
Sincerely,
Ronnie Erwin
Mayor
